Privacy Policy

Thomas Harris is a sole trader offering one-to-one English pronunciation, public speaking and accent coaching. This isn’t a big company with a data department — it’s just me, so this policy is written plainly, to actually tell you what I do with your information rather than to sound impressive.

What I collect

    • Your name and contact details (email, sometimes phone number)
    • Payment information, handled by Stripe or PayPal — I don’t store your card details myself
    • Booking and scheduling information, via an online service called vCita
    • Notes relating to your lessons, so I can track progress and tailor sessions

If you book through Preply, your data is primarily handled under Preply’s own privacy policy, since the booking, messaging, and payment happen on their platform, not mine.

Why I collect it

Simply to deliver coaching to you: booking lessons, taking payment, keeping track of what we’ve covered, and occasionally emailing you about your sessions. I don’t use your data for anything beyond running this small business.

Where it’s stored

Your data sits within the everyday business tools I use to run Thorn English: vCita (bookings), Stripe/PayPal (payments), Google Workspace (email), and Zoom (lessons). I don’t sell, rent, or share your data with anyone else, and I don’t use it for marketing to third parties.

How long I keep it

I keep client records for as long as needed to deliver lessons and meet basic accounting/tax requirements, and I delete or anonymise older records I no longer need.

Your rights

You can ask me at any time to see what information I hold about you, correct anything that’s wrong, or have your data deleted. Just get in touch — contact details are below.

Where I’m based, and which laws apply

As a small, one-person business, I aim to apply consistent, careful data-handling practices to everyone I work with. Where a specific law requires more of me — for example, UK GDPR for clients based in the UK — I aim to meet that standard for the relevant clients. From 15th August 2026, I will be operating from Australia and as such your data may be accessed from there. Until the 15th August, the business is based in the United Kingdom.

This policy is written to be clear and honest about a small, sole-trader business — it isn’t intended as a substitute for formal legal advice, and I review it from time to time as my circumstances change.
